How to Identify Authentic Ralph Lauren Handbags. Ralph Lauren is one of the most popular design houses in the world, and Ralph Lauren handbags are very much in demand. Because they are so popular, many vendors make fake handbags and sell them as the real thing. When you're looking for a deal on a handbag, whether online or in person, be sure you know how to identify an authentic Ralph Lauren handbag.
Consider the price. If you buy directly from Ralph Lauren, a handbag costs anywhere from $1,000 to $20,000, with most bags falling in the $1,500 to $3,000 range. Bags from past seasons have a high retail value, and even older bags sell for hundreds of dollars. A handbag that costs much less than the going rate is almost certainly a fake.

Jun 03, 2016 I thought the newer versions of Coach bags were made in China beginning 2000 but not the vintage style purses. Please let me know what you think before I place a bid on the item. Also, the seller was a little 'testy' when I asked for a photo of the Coach creed. A photo was not posted when the listing was a 'new listing'. Up to0.5%cash back Coach is a modern American luxury brand with a rich heritage rooted in quality and craftsmanship. All over the world, the Coach name is synonymous with the ease and sophistication of New York style. This is a coach bag. IT IS MADE OUT OF A COMPLETELY NATURAL GLOVE TANNED COWHIDE. THE SCARS, SCRATCHES, VEINS AND WRINKLES ARE NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FULL GRAIN LEATHERS. Coach’s previous repair policy never offered free maintenance: For $20, you could send your bag away at any point in its lifespan for a fix-up. While this might have made sense at a time when bags were super durable, it no longer applies to every Coach bag.
Look for tags. High-end bags come with a printed tag or a 'guarantee card' tucked into the bag, which testifies to the purse's authenticity. Note that a bag with original price tags is probably authentic; a bag without these tags may not be.
Notice the quality of the material. Ralph Lauren handbags are made from the highest-quality animal skin. A knock-off will be made of low-quality or imitation material, and the difference is stark. Real leather, for example, feels soft and supple, while mock leather, which may look similar, feels hard and stiff to the touch.
Examine the bag's stitching. An authentic bag has perfectly even stitches, outside and inside. Replicas are not as carefully made, and they are more likely to have uneven stitches and untidy seaming. If the stitching is imperfect, your bag is probably fake.

There are no gaps between any of the words in the creed.
The serial number has the format: xxx-xxxx.
The first three characters before the dash indicate the month, year, and location in which that particular bag was manufactured. The first and third characters are letters, and the second character is a numeral.
The four numbers after the dash indicate the bag’s style number.

For example, consider the serial number: F5D-9966. “F” is the 6th letter of alphabet, which indicates that the bag was manufactured during the 6th month of the year: June. “5” represents the year during which the bag was manufactured. “D” indicates that the bag was manufactured in the United States. Thus, you can decipher from the first part of the serial number that the bag was manufactured in the United States during June 1995.
The letters used to represent bags’ countries of origin can vary. It is not crucial to consider this factor when determining the authenticity of a bag.
Before 1994, Coach® assigned style numbers to bags but did not include them in bags’ serial numbers. Therefore, you can find two bags that look the same, but one could have a serial number consisting of arbitrary digits (if it was manufactured before 1994) and the other could have a serial number that indicates the style number (if it was manufactured after 1994).
Tips
You can be quite certain that a bag is inauthentic if you examine its creed and find either: 1) at least one misspelling or 2) at least one word or phrase inconsistent with either of the two versions of the creed above.
Both the size and weight of the Coach® creed’s font vary. Depending on a bag’s country of manufacture and age, the particular alignment of the creed can also vary. (The creed may be justified, aligned left, centered, justified with only the last line, or otherwise.) Therefore, these factors are not reliable indicators of authenticity.
